Product Description
The water cooled heated platens have a 4" (1432mm) diameter aluminum pressing surface that will heat a sample from ambient to 4432C in less than 15 minutes. The heated platens are controlled by a stable (±1oC) CE marked digital PID temperature controller. The integral water cooling facility reduces cooling times. A removable thermocouple monitors temperature close to the surface of the platens. This accessory is compatible with NATIONAL's 20 ton Press and 20 ton Air and is available as part of polymer film maker kits with those presses (43212-6631 and 43212-6681), and the Precision Thickness Film Maker (43212-4608). The heated platens can also be used with NATIONAL's 2 ton High Profile Press (43212-8393) and the 54320 pound load cell Press (43212-8379). When ordering for use with an existing NATIONAL Press, order a special lead screw assembly (43212-6665) for raising and lowering the top platen.

FAQs of Heated Platens with Temperature Control:
Q: How does the PID digital controller improve temperature accuracy on the heated platen?
A: The PID digital controller continuously monitors and adjusts the heating element, maintaining the surface temperature within 2C. This real-time feedback system ensures precise and stable temperature control crucial for sensitive applications.
Q: What types of surfaces are available for heated platens, and how do they affect usage?
A: Heated platens are offered in polished or matte finishes. The polished finish is ideal for applications demanding easy cleaning and uniform contact, while the matte finish offers enhanced grip for materials that might slip or require extra hold during processing.
Q: When should you use the overheat protection and fault alarm features?
A: Overheat protection and fault alarms activate automatically whenever the platens temperature exceeds safe levels or when control faults are detected. These safety features prevent equipment damage and ensure operator safety; regular inspection before use is recommended.
Q: Where can heated platens with temperature control be installed or mounted?
A: These platens support both floor and bench mounting, making them adaptable to various industrial, laboratory, and workshop setups throughout India. The 2-meter cable supports flexible placement within most work environments.
Q: What is the process for setting up and operating the heated platen?
A: Setup involves mounting the platen on a suitable surface, connecting the wiring kit, and attaching the insulation pads. After connecting power, use the digital temperature controller and LED/LCD display to set and monitor the desired temperature, ensuring safety features are enabled before operation.
Q: How do the included accessories enhance the functionality of the heated platen?
A: Accessories like the digital temperature controller, insulation pads, and wiring kit simplify installation and enable precise control. The insulation pads help retain heat and improve energy efficiency, while the wiring kit ensures safe and reliable connectivity during use.
Q: What are the benefits of using a heated platen with embedded electric heaters for industrial processes?
A: Embedded electric heaters deliver rapid, even heating, enhancing process reliability and reducing cycle times. Combined with precise temperature control and high load capacity, these platens improve product quality and operational efficiency in various manufacturing and research applications.
