Product Description

NATIONALs new patented Press hydraulic lab presses feature a unique lightweight ergonomic design. All Press laboratory press models weigh less than 90 pounds due to NATIONALs patented unibody construction. The 12 ton Press laboratory press weighs a mere 51 pounds! The 15 and 20 ton Press will handle a variety of lab applications, including pressing KBr pellets for FTIR spectroscopy and briquetting samples for XRF spectroscopy. Ports in the walls of the lab press frame allow access for vacuum lines and electrical cords to the area between the platens, which enables use of the press with evacuable dies and heated platens. The 15 and 20 ton Press can also be used for making thin films with NATIONALs Precision Thickness Film Maker and Heated Platens. Automated versions or our laboratory presses are available which are driven by pneumatic motors powered by your labs compressed air supply.

The newest additions to the Press laboratory press line are NATIONALs new 1 and 2 ton  Presses. The 1 and 2 ton units offer sensitivity at low pressure levels in applications where precise control of the load on the sample is required, such as pressing pellets of intrinsic pharmaceutical ingredients for dissolution rate analysis.

All Presses lab presses feature built in polycarbonate safety shields with solid brass hardware. There are die centering depressions in the round bottom platens. Each press comes with a standard stainless steel filling disc to flatten the platen. The bottom platen of the 2 and 12 ton Press automatically centers NATIONALs 13mm Macro-Micro die. The bottom platen of the 15 and 20 ton Press has a 4" diameter depression and optional donut shaped inserts are available to automatically center NATIONAL's 13mm, 20mm, 32mm, 35mm and 40mm die sets. Optional extra long handles are also available for all presses for extra leverage.

Precision Engineering for Laboratory Demands

These presses are meticulously designed to ensure uniform pressure distribution and consistent performance during testing. Whether manual or electrically operated, their construction incorporates advanced safety and durability features, making them suited for regular use in academic or industrial research environments.

Customizable Features for Varied Applications

Laboratories can choose from multiple capacities12, 15, or 20 tonsand tailor daylight, platen size, and operation type according to their unique testing needs. Each model provides flexibility for a broad spectrum of material assessments, contributing to research accuracy and efficiency.

Reliable Safety and Ease of Operation

The integration of overload relief valves and electrical enclosures ensures user safety. Simple manual or motor-driven controls enable precise adjustments and repeatability, while the heavy-duty frame and quality finishes guarantee long-lasting, trouble-free operation.

FAQs of 12, 15 & 20 Ton Hydraulic Laboratory Presses:

Q: How do I select the suitable model of hydraulic laboratory press for my testing requirement?

A: Choose your press based on the maximum load (12, 15, or 20 tons) required for your material tests. Consider platen size, daylight, and operation modemanual or electricalto meet your sample size and testing procedures. Custom configurations are available for specialized needs.

Q: What safety features are included in these hydraulic laboratory presses?

A: Each press features an overload relief valve to prevent excess pressure, minimizing risk. Motorized models also have enclosed electrical components for enhanced operator protection during use.

Q: Where are these presses primarily used?

A: These presses are designed for laboratories involved in precise material analysis, quality control, and research. They are widely utilized in academic institutions, industrial research labs, and quality assurance departments.

Q: What is the process for operating the press manually or electrically?

A: Manual models require hand-operated levers to apply pressure, while motorized presses are operated using a 1.5 HP motor, controlled via accessible electrical panels. Both allow for careful adjustment of load and stroke during testing procedures.

Q: When is it beneficial to customize platen size or daylight on these presses?

A: Customization is advantageous when testing non-standard sample sizes, specific materials, or unique protocols requiring particular pressure areas or larger clearance. Custom orders accommodate such specialized laboratory needs.

Q: What are the key benefits of a four-pillar floor model construction?

A: The four-pillar design provides structural stability, precise alignment, and even load distribution, which enhances test reliability and extends the lifespan of the unit during repeated use.
